About.
Why 'Caret'?
A caret is a mark (⁁) used in proofreading to show where new content should be entered. The caret symbol (^) is also found on most computer keyboards.
Today, most writing and proofreading is done on screen, and my career background is in the tech industry. The caret symbol ties together these areas – typing, proofreading, and tech. It represents the blend of skills and expertise I offer.
I also believe in using plain English – straightforward language that is easy to understand – to communicate with people. ‘Caret’ fits this philosophy as it is short and memorable.
My journey.
Two recent events changed everything.
In 2016 I experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake while living in New Zealand. Then, in 2020, the pandemic changed the world as we knew it.
Like many people, I reconsidered what is important to me.
In terms of my working life, I concluded that I want to use my skills to help others. I want to do work that I believe in and spend my time on projects that I can be proud of.
Proofreading ticks these boxes. I have always been passionate about reading and writing. By supporting you to publish the best version of your work, proofreading honours the time and effort you’ve invested into creating your art.
Your work matters – to you, to your readers, and to me.
Location.
